Picturesque Pompeii & Positano

It's difficult to put into words the emotions that arise when exploring the ancient ruins of Pompeii and taking in the stunning vistas of Positano. Following our departure from Rome, we opted for a private transfer in a luxurious vehicle, which took us to both locations and included breaks for lunch and a knowledgeable local guide for Pompeii.

Our first stop was the Pompeii ruins, where we met our guide, Hector. He was incredibly welcoming and well-informed about the history of the area. Despite his age, he had a great sense of humor and kept us entertained with his jokes. Hector ensured that we didn't miss any of the significant historical sites and allowed us ample time for photography. It was a surreal experience to be surrounded by so much history and tragedy. Additionally, we could observe Mount Vesuvius from afar and appreciate how close the villages are to an active volcano. After spending a few hours exploring the ruins and discovering the story of Pompeii, I gained more knowledge than I ever would have sitting in a history class. Our farewell to Hector and Pompeii concluded our visit, and we made our way to Positano.

On our way to Positano, we had the pleasure of driving along the scenic Amalfi Coast and enjoying the stunning views of the water and nearby towns. We made a stop in Sorrento to admire the picturesque town and its surrounding waters. As we pulled over, I was left in awe of the beauty that lay before my eyes. The sight of the entire town and its surroundings was truly breathtaking. After taking in all the stunning sights, we headed towards Positano for the rest of our afternoon. Upon arrival, we had lunch reservations at Ristorante La Pergola, which is located right by the water and overlooks the beach and the Gulf of Salerno. To the right of the restaurant, there are beautiful water-colored villas and houses that make their way up the mountain. I ordered the seafood gnocchi, which was absolutely delicious. Paired with a glass of wine and the amazing views of the sea, it was truly a perfect dining experience.

After finishing our meals, we headed back up the stairs in Positano to indulge in some shopping. The town boasts numerous shops, catering to all your needs. From jewelry stores to handmade clothing boutiques, limoncello shops, and more, you'll find it all here. During my visit, I bought a few pieces of jewelry, took home some souvenirs to remember the day, and even splurged on a beautiful custom-made light blue dress from one of the boutiques. The sight of so many people enjoying their shopping experience was incredible. We visited in late April and were surprised to see a large crowd, even though it wasn't yet the tourist season. Overall, it was a fun day filled with history and breathtaking views. I highly recommend taking this trip and booking a tour, as I did, if you're in Rome. The transportation was smooth, and we didn't have to worry about a thing. Stay tuned for my day trip to Cinque Terre!
