Cuckoo for Coco & Moss
I started Day 1 in Savannah, GA with a bang!
Coco & Moss was the refreshing, tasty, savory lunch snack I desperately needed after my early flight. From the moment you enter, the sunlight beams in, the aesthetic is clean, and you feel welcomed.
Coco & Moss serves Japanese dishes in a contemporary cafe. “Coco” represents the coconut trees of their past, and “Moss” is the Spanish moss of their present. Located on Barnard Street, it is the ultimate perfect location, right near Ellis Square and walking distance to City Market. The food ranges from poke bowls, hand rolls, sashimi and so much more.
I started with Miso soup as the appetizer and it did not disappoint. It was just warm enough that you can dive right in and not have to worry about burning your tongue and oh was it so yummy. It had not too much salt where you’re downing your water but just the right amount where you can keep on sipping.
For the main dish, I decided to have two different types of hand rolls and two types of sashimi. I’m a sucker for sashimi so you know, I have to try it everywhere I go. The two hand rolls were crab meat and shrimp. Each was perfectly stuffed with seafood that was just perfect for one bite. Paired with some low sodium soy sauce, high cholesterol girl over here, it went down so smoothly. I was almost tempted to order some more but luckily I did have the sashimi pieces to hold me over. For the sashimi, I ordered tuna and yellowtail, two of my all-time favorite types of sashimi. These pieces were so delicately and thinly sliced, again paired with some soy sauce, they hit the spot.
If you’re ever in Savannah and are looking for a refreshing and amazing place to grab some food, head to Coco & Moss. A great experience, and great service, couldn’t ask for better. Stay tuned for more of my Savannah dishes.
